I’m not really the girly sort when it comes to decorating my home. You’re more likely to find me surrounded by grey and natural tones with rustic textures than pretty pastels. So imagine my surprise at my new-found love of pink! It all started with this throw…

There’s something irresistible about the combination of rose pink, grey and coral, plus these colours used in a geometric means it doesn’t feel too feminine for me. As soon as I saw it I had to add it to the Decorator’s Notebook shop (and grab one for myself of course). Before long I found myself obsessed with pops of pink and has filled a whole Pinterest board with inspirational pink rooms! Here are just a few of my favourites and my view on what makes them work.

Ah, this dusky pink wall and linen sheets combo is perfection. The muted pink shade feels beautifully sophisticated with a bit of a heritage edge. And that tiny dash of ochre is inspired.

Charcoal and pink is another winning combination for my taste. I love the colour on the walls, the velvet button-back sofa and the worn floral painting. The style of the cushions and throw are still a bit too frilly for me, but the shade of cerise pink is exactly the right accent with the moody greys.

A more mid-century vibe here but I think the coral pink velvet chair is the star of this room. Choosing bold colours for upholstery always seems a brave decision to me as it’s usually a big investment and you’re kind of stuck with it if you redecorate. But so often a statement armchair or sofa works brilliantly… this mustard velvet sofa against the muted raspberry wall is still one of my favourite rooms of all time. The paint colour is Tyrian Rose by Fired Earth.
