If you love global textiles as much as I do, you’ll already know how they can instantly warmth, texture and colour to your home. But striking the balance between bohemian and modern can sometimes be tricky - to get it right takes a very light touch. I came across this beautiful bedroom over at Design*Sponge and wanted to show how we can all achieve the modern bohemian look at home.
Just imagine for a moment, this room without the textiles. How bland it would suddenly seem! The all-white backdrop makes the room really light and airy, but it’s the cushions and throw that really give this bedroom its personality and cosy atmosphere. It would be so easy to recreate this style by adding just a few well-chosen textiles from around the world to a white painted room. I love the layers of different textures, materials and styles: the Moroccan wedding blanket gives the headboard a subtle glint of glamour and contrasts perfectly with the indigo shibori, embroidered and woven cushions with their rich colours. Everything in this boho bedroom has a faded charm that feels instantly inviting and relaxing.
This is just one room from a gorgeous Florida home with lots more ideas for a modern bohemian scheme. Head to Design*Sponge and feast your eyes on the rest of this house and don’t forget the Decorator’s Notebook Shop is a great source of handmade and fairtrade textiles from all around the world to help you achieve this beautiful look in your home.

Love the cottage chic feel and beachy hues… Beautiful!
Mmm, isn’t it just lovely. You couldn’t help but feel relaxed in this room could you?
I like it. It has something, a traditional feel. But one can’t say about this bedroom it’s old, it’s touch is modern.

I can see myself relaxing in this room, it has style but still keeps in with tradition. I have ordered a white fabric headboard from decur.co.uk and now after looking at these images I now know which direction to go to in order to achieve this look.
