The King’s Coronation Celebrations

The King’s Coronation is just around the corner, and it’s an exciting time for anyone living in the UK. It’s an opportunity for Brits to get together with their family and friends and have a special celebration. We can’t wait to help you plan the perfect party with your loved ones this May while still sticking with the goal of making any event as sustainable and ethical as possible.

The First Coronation in Over 70 Years

One of the reasons that this is such a momentous occasion for the British public is that the majority of us have never seen a coronation in our lifetime. With Queen Elizabeth II enjoying such a long time on the throne, this coronation is going to gain attention from the public around the world, who are welcoming King Charles and Queen Camilla to the throne at Westminster Abbey.

The coronation takes place during the weekend of the 6-8th May 2023. It will be televised to the nation and the world, but many people will travel to London to be closer to the experience. We think it’s the perfect time to gather with your friends, family, or local community. As well as watching the coronation and coronation concert from Windsor Castle together, you could also plan to enjoy the Coronation Big Lunch on the Sunday. This day encourages people to come together and enjoy a picnic or outdoor event while connecting with their loved ones.

Planning Your Coronation Celebrations

Now’s the perfect time to start planning your get-together for the coronation weekend. Red, white and blue is the perfect colour scheme for the event. We have many different items in our online store for this weekend, all of which are ethical and sustainable. To make your table welcoming for your guests, we recommend our Carnival Blue Jute Placemats and Coasters. Not only will these make a fun addition to your table on this weekend, but you’ll find they are great for use all year round.

Our Hammam Blue Sky & Sea Towels are not only ideal for holidays, but great for sitting on and enjoying picnics in the garden or park.

To make serving your food easier, we recommend our Indigo Drop Serving Bowl, which you can add your favourite coronation-themed treats to.

The Kantha Vintage Cotton Round Burlap Baskets are great for storage but we think they are the perfect wine or water holder for indoors or outdoors.

If wine is on your menu, the Recycled White Etched Stripe Wine Glass Set will be ideal for serving your favourite tipple in!

Finally, you’ll need something to carry all of your party goods in, which is where the Red Ikat Jute Tote Bag comes in handy. This Fairtrade bag will be ideal for work, shopping, and the beach too. We encourage you to always think about using sustainable and handmade items you can use all year round, not just for this special occasion.
